General Institute Development Society (IDS), Government Polytechnic, Madhepura The Institute Development Society (IDS) at Government Polytechnic, Madhepura serves as a dynamic platform to promote innovation, skill development, industry collaboration, and self-sustainability within the institute. IDS facilitates the effective utilization of institutional resources for academic enrichment, consultancy, testing, and revenue-generating activities, aligning with the objectives of AICTE and modern technical education practices. Category 1: Research and Development Projects (R&D) The Research and Development wing of IDS encourages innovation, applied research, and project-based learning among students and faculty. Promotion of student and faculty research projects Development of prototype models and innovative solutions Organization of seminars, workshops, and technical events Encouragement for participation in national-level competitions and hackathons Collaboration with industries for real-time problem solving Enhances analytical and problem-solving skills Supports NBA Outcome-Based Education (OBE) framework Promotes lifelong learning and innovation culture Category 2: Testing Projects The Testing facility under IDS provides technical testing and validation services across multiple engineering disciplines. Civil Engineering: Material testing (cement, concrete, aggregates, soil) Mechanical Engineering: Strength testing, thermal analysis, machine performance testing Electrical Engineering: Electrical equipment testing, wiring safety, load analysis Electronics Engineering: Circuit testing, PCB validation, instrumentation testing Utilization of modern laboratory equipment Supervision by qualified faculty and technical staff Ensures adherence to quality standards and safety norms Provides practical exposure to students Supports industry and local community needs Generates institutional revenue through consultancy/testing Category 3: Services Under the Internal Revenue Generation Scheme (IRGS), IDS offers various technical and academic services to external stakeholders. Technical consultancy and guidance Skill development and short-term training programs Maintenance and repair services (Mechanical/Electrical systems) CAD design and drafting services Conduct of certification programs and workshops Strengthens industry-institute interaction Enhances employability and skill enhancement Supports self-sustainability of the institute Category 4: Manufacturing The Manufacturing unit under IDS focuses on production-oriented activities using available workshop and laboratory facilities. Fabrication of mechanical components and models Manufacturing of educational aids and lab equipment Development of prototypes and small-scale products Repair and modification of machinery and tools Workshop machines Electrical and electronics labs Fabrication and assembly units Provides hands-on industrial experience Develops entrepreneurial skills among students Encourages Make-in-Institute concept

Awards Excellence Awards at Government Polytechnic Madhepura Government Polytechnic Madhepura promotes a culture of academic excellence and professional excellence through recognition of meritorious students and outstanding teachers. Meritorious Students Encouragement Award The institute recognizes academic achievers through the “Meritorious Students Encouragement Award” to motivate students towards consistent and excellent performance. The top three students from each branch are recognized at the institutional level, subject to prescribed eligibility conditions such as no backlog/carry paper and minimum 80% attendance. Merit is assessed on the performance of the relevant two semesters for First, Second and Third Year students. Best Teacher of the Year Award The State Board of Technical Education, Bihar (SBTE) has instituted the “Best Teacher of the Year Award” to recognize outstanding faculty members of Polytechnic Institutions. The award acknowledges excellence in teaching-learning, student mentoring, innovation, outreach, research and institutional contributions. The evaluation gives major emphasis to Teaching-Learning Effectiveness (80%), along with Outreach Activities (10%), Research & Innovation (5%), and Sponsored Research/Faculty Development Programmes (5%). The award includes a medal, certificate, laptop and cash prize for the first three positions.
