SC & ST Cell

As per the Scheduled Castes and Tribes - Prevention of Atrocities Act, the Sc/ST Committee is established to promote a safe, healthy, and supportive environment for SC/ST students in the campus. The committee works to address the issues faced by Sc/ST students and prevent any atrocities against them, in compliance with AICTE regulations and the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, 1989 (No.33 of 1989).

Objectives

1. Promote Interests of SC/ST Students

The SC/ST Committee helps students accesS various government schemes and ensure that students make the most of these benefits.

No Caste-based Discrinmination: The committee ensures that there is no caste-based discrimination within the institution.
3.
Achieving Government Targets: The committee takes measures to achieve the objectives and targets set by the Government of India for SC/ST students.
4.
Guidance on Government Schemes: The committee guides students on how to utilize benefits from the State Governments, Government of India (GOI), and UGC for their academic and career advancement.

Functioning of SC/ST Committee

The committee functions as a Grievances Redressal Cell for SC/ST students, offering support for both academic and personal issues. Additionally, the committee

Activities of SC/ST Committee

Coordination of Government Schemes

The committee coordinates the implementation of various policies and programs by Central Government, MHRD, UGC, and State Government to benefit SC/ST students.

Awareness Campaigns

It undertakes activities to develop awareness among Sc/ST students, particularly those from rural backgrounds.

Announcement of Schemes

The committee regularly informs students about free coaching programs, start-ups, government scholarships, and fellowships through circulars and other communication channels.

Frequency of Meeting

The SC/ST Committee holds meetings once at the beginning of each semester. Additional meetings are scheduled as required to resolve any specific issues or cases.

Process for Submitting Complaints

Any student from the sc/ST category can submit a complaint through the prescribed format available with the committee members.

Once the complaint is received, the committee will schedule a meeting within a week to address the issue.

Grievance Mechanism

1. Complaint Submission

Any aggrieved student can reach out to the Sc/ST Committee by lodging a complaint.

2. Meeting for Complaint Hearing

The committee will set a date for hearing the complaint and inform the concerned student.

The student is required to be present in person during the meeting.

3. Findings Report

After hearing the complaint, the committee will report its findings to the Principal, along with any recommendations, within 15 days of the meeting.
